Meet Our Team

Brian Lucky Skillen (Executive Producer/Director)

Brian John Skillen has been active in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. He started his career as a dancer, and In 2008, he formed 1881 Productions, an umbrella company for events, film, and publishing. Since its formation, 1881 Productions has produced/co-produced dance events in 25 countries—it has also produced feature films, including Where We Danced, an archival documentary about the history of African American social dance. In 2020, 1881 Productions formed a publishing wing with the release of the Amazon Best Selling novel The Way: Through a Field of Stars. Currently, Brian is directing and producing media for a civil rights exhibit for the Exchange Museum in Petersburg Virginia.

Chelsea Skillen (Master of all Things)

Chelsea joined 1881 Production in 2019 and has proclaimed her title in the company as Master of All Things– Assisting Brian in all aspects of the company. Chelsea has a Masters in Organizational Leadership and has a wealth of knowledge from her work in the nonprofit sector. Chelsea is a world traveler, dancer, and organizer of events. She enjoys the small details, logistics, and organizing. She loves a good adventure, if that’s riding her bike across the USA, or organizing community events.
